Educational Trip to Biodiversity Park,
FTI Haldwani
On April 23, 2025, the
students of Grade VII went on an enriching educational trip to the Biodiversity
Park at FTI Haldwani. The visit aimed to foster awareness and appreciation for
our rich ecological diversity.
The students were
warmly welcomed and guided by Mr. Jyoti Prakash Joshi, the Research Associate,
and Mr. Nayan Singh Negi, the Range Officer. Both experts shared in-depth
knowledge about the natural elements present in the park, engaging students
with interactive questions and real-life examples throughout the tour.
One of the key
highlights was the introduction to various species of butterflies, including
the Atlas Moth and Uttarakhand’s State Butterfly. Students also explored
India’s first Pollination Park, where they were told about a wide array of
caterpillars, pollinator-friendly plants, and the processes that support
pollination and ecological balance.
Moving further, the
students learned about diverse plant species, such as the sacred Rudraksh tree,
vibrant lilies, and serene lotuses, along with several cactus varieties. They
were also introduced to state-specific plants and discussed their significance
in local ecology and traditional practices.
The session also
included valuable insights into agricultural practices, soil types, and their
roles in sustainable farming and biodiversity. The guides ensured that learning
remained interactive and student-friendly throughout.
After the informative
session, the students enjoyed their lunch amidst the natural beauty of the
park, surrounded by lush greenery and fresh air, making it a memorable day
spent in the lap of nature.
This educational trip
not only deepened the students' understanding of biodiversity but also
instilled a sense of responsibility towards conserving our environment. It was
truly a day of learning, curiosity, and connection with nature.
