Phonetic Precision Workshop

A workshop on Phonetic Precision was conducted at Whitehall School on 16th and 17th March 2026 to strengthen teachers’ understanding of phonics and its role in developing correct pronunciation and reading skills among learners. The session was anchored by Ms. Ghazala and conducted by the resource person Ms. Aparna Singh. The programme was attended by our Managing Director Mrs. S. Lal, the Director Mrs. Erickson, and the Principal Ms. Manral, along with teachers from the Junior Whitehall School and the Primrose block.

The workshop began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting followed by a welcome song presented by the students. During her session, Ms. Aparna Singh emphasized the importance of phonics in language learning and explained that every alphabet has both a name and a sound, which helps learners develop accurate pronunciation and better reading abilities.

Through a presentation, she introduced the concept of Jolly Phonics and explained how letter sounds are organized in groups to make learning more systematic and effective. She also demonstrated the process of blending sounds to form simple words, highlighting how phonics can support early reading and language development.

The session remained engaging and informative, encouraging active participation and discussion among the attendees. At the end of the workshop, a memento was presented to the resource person, Ms. Aparna Singh, as a token of appreciation for her valuable contribution. Certificates were also distributed to the teachers.

The workshop concluded with words of appreciation from the management. Mrs. S.Lal, Mrs. Erickson, and the Principal commended the efforts of the resource person and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the teachers.

Overall, the workshop proved to be insightful and beneficial, providing valuable strategies that teachers can effectively implement in their classrooms to enhance students’ phonetic awareness and reading skills.
