Mrs. Barbara Lal Memorial Inter-School English Debate Competition

The Mrs. Barbara Lal Memorial Inter-School English Debate Competition was held with great enthusiasm and intellectual fervour at Whitehall School, Lamachaur, on 8th October 2025.

The Participating Schools in the competition were Beersheba School, BLM Academy, DAV School, Gurukul International School, Queen’s Sr. Sec. School, St. Paul’s School, Universal School, Saraswati Academy and St. Theresa School.

 

The topic of the debate for the junior category was “Would the world be a better place if only children ruled it?”

and “Performance-based funding will help address college dropout problems.” for the senior category.

 

The young orators spoke with remarkable creativity, imagination, and confidence as they explored the idea of a world led by children.

 

The event was graced by two eminent judges whose achievements and diverse expertise added immense value to the occasion.

 

Mrs. Shivanjali Kashyap, a dedicated advocate at the Delhi High Court, and Mrs. Kiranjot Punian Gill is a multifaceted personality whose achievements span across various fields.

 

Both judges lauded the participants for their confidence, clarity of expression, and depth of thought.

 

After a series of thought-provoking performances, results were declared. In Junior Category, Best Speaker- Ishika Pandey, Saraswati Academy

Most Promising Speaker-Diya Pant Whitehall School , Promising Speaker- Shaurya Pandey, Saraswati Academy, Upcoming Orator-Lakshika Kumar, Universal School ,Best Content-Mahima Joshi Whitehall School and Consolation Prizes- Gursifat kaur ,St. Paul's School .

In Senior Category, Best Speaker- Divyanshu Upreti, Saraswati Academy, Most Promising Speaker- kushagra Upadhyay, Saraswati Academy, Promising Speaker- Manas Lamagria, Gurukul International School, Upcoming Orator- Kartik Pandey, Whitehall School, Best Content- Vansh Pandey, Beersheba School and Consolation Prizes- Mansi Sharma, Queen’s Sr. Sec. School and Nivedita Joshi -St. Paul's School.

 

The competition concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished judges, participating schools, and the organizing team for their contribution to the success of the event.
