Third Edition of Whitehall Cup Kabaddi Tournament
Description: The prestigious PSA Inter-school Kabaddi Championship , The Whitehall Cup, was held on the 27th and 28th of November at Whitehall School, Lamachaur. Organized under the aegis of the Private School Association, the two-day event witnessed intense kabaddi matches in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, with participation from 14 teams. The tournament began with a grand opening ceremony on the first day, graced by Mr. Kailash Bhagat, President of the Private School Association; Mr. Paramveer Singh, Joint Secretary of the Uttarakhand Kabaddi Federation; Mr. Manmohan Basera, Secretary of the Nainital Kabaddi Association; and Mr. Anil Padaliya, Parent Representative. Mr. Bhagat inaugurated the event by releasing balloons, marking the official start of the tournament. Following the inauguration, Mr. Basera addressed the gathering, commending Whitehall School for promoting kabaddi and highlighting the sport’s role in instilling discipline, teamwork, and resilience in young athletes. The first day saw intense matches as the teams competed to secure their positions in the semi-finals. The presence of Mr. Anil Padaliya added a unique perspective, representing the support and enthusiasm of the parents in encouraging their children to participate in sports. The matches were a showcase of skill, strategy, and determination, captivating the audience throughout the day. On the second day, the semi-finals and finals were played, culminating in an electrifying conclusion to the tournament. The final day was graced by Mrs. Shalini Lal, one of the founding directors of Whitehall School, as the Chief Guest. She witnessed the nail-biting final matches and applauded the efforts of all the participants. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. Chandan Raikwal, Director of The Masters School; Mr. Saurabh Pathak, Secretary of the Private School Association; Mr. Manmohan Basera, Secretary of the Nainital Kabaddi Association, Ms. Rajkiran and Mr. Jaskirat. The distinguished guests presented the trophies, and individual awards, encouraging the players and acknowledging their exceptional performances. The championship titles were claimed by The Masters School in the boys’ category and Whitehall School in the girls’ category. The runners-up positions were secured by Whitehall School, in the boys’ category and Ascent Public School in the girls’ category, both teams putting up commendable performances. Additional individual prizes were awarded in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, recognising outstanding performances and exceptional contributions throughout the tournament. These prizes included: Best Raider (Boys): Dhruv Bhatt (Whitehall) Best Raider (Girls): Garima Dangi (Ascent Public School) Best Defender (Boys): Ankit Rautela (The Masters) Best Defender (Girls): Riya Kharayat (Whitehall) Best Player of the tournament: Vishal Kala from Whitehall (Boys) Dipali Sah from Whitehall (Girls) The third edition of the Whitehall Cup Kabaddi Tournament proved to be a resounding success. It provided a platform for students to showcase their talent, learn valuable life skills, and celebrate the spirit of kabaddi. Whitehall School, takes pride in organizing such events and looks forward to hosting even more significant editions in the future.
