To commemorate the 150th
birth anniversary of Edward James “Jim” Corbett, our school organized an
educational trip to the Jim Corbett Heritage Village at Chhoti Haldwani on 25th
July 2025. The trip provided students with a meaningful opportunity to explore
the legacy of Jim Corbett — a renowned hunter turned conservationist, whose
deep love for nature laid the foundation for India’s first national park. The
day began with a visit to the Jim Corbett Museum, where students observed rare
photographs, letters, and personal belongings of Corbett that highlighted his
life and contributions to wildlife conservation. This was followed by a guided
heritage trail through the village, where students saw the stone wall built by
Corbett to protect villagers from wild animals, his former home, and other
landmarks described in his writings. Interactive sessions with local residents
gave students a glimpse into Kumaoni culture and Corbett’s close relationship
with the community. A short nature walk and conservation talk led by local
naturalists introduced students to regional flora and bird species while
emphasizing the importance of protecting biodiversity. The day concluded with a
reflection session where students shared their learnings. The trip was not only
a tribute to Jim Corbett’s legacy but also an inspiring experience that
instilled in students a deeper appreciation for nature, heritage, and
responsible environmental stewardship.
