Educational Trip to ARIES, Nainital

An educational trip to ARIES (Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences), Nainital, was organized for the students of Grade 12 A and B of Whitehall School, Lamachaur on 17 April 2026. The primary objective of the visit was to enhance students’ understanding of astronomy and observational sciences through practical exposure.

The group, accompanied by teachers, departed from the school campus in the morning and reached ARIES by 9:30 am. Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the institute staff and given a brief introduction about the history, purpose, and achievements of ARIES.

The students were then taken to the auditorium to see a briefing video of ARIES. An interactive session was also conducted, where students actively participated by asking questions and clarifying their doubts related to astronomy and physics by scientist Dr. Virendra yadav .This session proved to be highly informative and engaging.

Children went on a guided tour of the observatory. They were introduced to various sophisticated telescopes and instruments used for astronomical observations. The experts explained concepts related to celestial bodies, space research, and modern techniques used in studying the universe. The visit to the telescope facility was particularly fascinating, as students gained insights into how scientists observe distant stars, planets, and galaxies.

The trip not only enriched the students’ academic knowledge but also sparked curiosity and interest in space science. It provided them with a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world scientific applications.

The students returned to the school with memorable experiences and a deeper appreciation for scientific research.
